How to Save Pinterest Videos in MP4
By PinMediaDownloader editorial team · Updated 2026-11-02 · 4 min read

MP4 is a container for video and audio, not a promise of a particular resolution. This downloader locates an existing public MP4; it does not transcode a stream or manufacture a higher-quality copy.

Save an existing MP4
- 1
Open the video Pin and copy its public URL.
- 2
Paste it into the video downloader and analyze it.
- 3
Play the preview and check that the reported format is MP4.
- 4
Choose Download Video, then locate the file in your browser's Downloads folder.
Why an animated Pin may be MP4
A moving image is not necessarily a GIF. Pinterest can expose a video rendition of an animation. Use the detected format rather than the way the Pin looks to choose your tool. This site does not convert MP4 to GIF.
Resolution and playback
The result can report dimensions only when they are available. A large screen does not mean a downloaded clip is HD. If a player cannot open the file, first check that the download finished and that the file is not an error page. Reanalyze the Pin if the media URL has expired; renaming the extension will not repair an incomplete file.
When no MP4 is available
A Pin may publish only a still image, an unsupported streaming playlist or no public media at all. A playlist is not a downloadable MP4. The tool must report that limitation rather than present a fake file. Private and restricted Pins are not supported.
